happiness-it's your choice

People ask: Why are you so happy?
Why shouldn't I be?
I have a best friend at my side constantly
ready to take care of my every need
and ready to lift me up when I feel
it just might be impossible.
I have knowledge.
Not just school knowledge.
Spiritual knowledge.
I think it all started with parents
who were such great examples of how
to be like our Savior.
I have so much gratitude for them.
I have so much gratitude for our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Where would I be without him?
no where. and probably not making a lot
of progress either. Sometimes,
we might ask ourselves. How? How can I
be more like Him? I have
so many problems. I am not perfect!
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said,"It
is your duty now to strive for perfection. STOP
beating on yourself! Your not going to reach it here,
not now. But perfection will
only be achieved by
staying on the path of discipleship."
Now, back to happiness.
A man gave a talk in sacrament meeting that
fit this title. He did not feel he had
any adversity. He knew he was blessed.
He didn't realize how much
adversity he really had until
someone asked him how he could be so happy
despite all of his adversities.
He told the man he didn't know what he was talking about.
Then as he thought and pondered
upon all of the adversities that he had,
he started to realize that he had many!
Slowly, life became harder and more difficult to see
happiness. It wasn't until later that he realized
something. He had changed focus.
Before, he was focused
on seeing everything but
his adversities.
Then when the man had pointed them
out and he chose to notice and dwell on them,
life became harder and happiness seemed distant.
Let us keep our focus on everything
except our adversities.
That is what will help us get through our storms.
And the Savior, He loves me.
And I know it.
